After a few years of not looking after your body, eating lots of rich
meats and drinking to much beer, there is a good chance that your body
will have accumulated enough uric acid crystals for your first
experience of gout.

If you have any of the following symptoms then there is a good chance
you have gout:-

1. They will feel some warmth along with extreme tenderness when the
infected joint is touched. Normally the joint most commonly affected
by
this condition is the big toe. But as well as the warmth and
tenderness a person will notice the joint has become inflamed and it
is also
painful. These particular symptoms of gout are more commonly referred
to
as podagra.

2. No one who hasn't had a gout attack start at bedtime can believe how
much pain can come just from the brushing of your partners foot
against the infected joint, normally your big toe.

3.Some gout sufferers will have an attack that comes on quickly and
lasts many hours. After the initial pain, which can be very intense,
the
level drops over the next 2 days to a week.

4. When the gout attack actually begins to subside then the person
finds that the skin around the joint, which is affected, may feel
itchy
and starts to peel.

Like any illness, gout affects different people in different ways. Some
people will recognize all the symptoms mentioned here while others
won't recognize any of them, you may only get pain in your elbows for
example and none in the big toe joint which we mentioned.

Just because your pain is in your elbow or wrist it doesn't mean it
isn't gout. While gout usually attacks your big toe joint there are
many
instances of people who have had no trouble at all with their toes but
have had immense pain in other joints.

If you have recently had surgery then there is a increased chance that
you will have a gout attack. These after surgery attacks seem to be
short in length, although just as painful as any other attack, it can
also
be treated as a side effect of the surgery rather than actual gout.

When a person starts to display any of the symptoms we have mentioned
here it is vital to get them to see a Dr. Some people will dismiss the
pain as a temporary discomfort, however without proper medication it
will come back worse the next time.

Would you know if you are dealing with a a
(http://goutassistance.com/gout-symptom/) gout symptom or just aches
and
pains? When your big toe ache we don't normally think of
(http://goutassistance.com) gout as a possible cause.

by Julia HanfMany a times our parents and grandparents talk about a serious issue at
our home which is known as ‘diabetes’. But does any one of us seem to
be really interested in the topic. Have we attempted to gain the full
knowledge of the disease? When the insulin in the body gets wiped out,
the sugar level or the glucose level rises and as a result diabetes
develops.

Controlling diabetes involves keeping the blood sugar levels under
control. If not caught in time, this disease can result in some very
serious effects on your health. Some short term effects can include, but
are not limited to, blurred vision, concentration loss, weight loss, and
frequent urination. If you fail to treat and control diabetes quickly,
more serious health issues could arise such as heart disease, eye
disease, and kidney failure.

The treatment of Diabetes depends on the age of the person, the
lifestyle of the person and the stage of disease. Initially, the treatment of
Diabetes involves giving a healthy and nutritious diet, and regular
exercising. The weight of the diabetic should be under control to minimize
the disease. If the above said measures of control are not effective,
than Oral medications and Insulin are preferred.

Near about to 15 million people in US are ailing under diabetes while
many of them prefer insulin shots on a daily basis. Reducing the blood
pressure, the blood glucose level and cholesterol level are most
necessary to control diabetes. Smoking remains as the sole cause of heart
diseases thereby increasing the risk for diabetics at a larger rate. This
the reason why diabetics are suggested to give up smoking for the
purpose of saving them from various other heart diseases and higher
cholesterol levels.

Gymnema, bitter melon, bilberry, birch leaf tea, diaplex are some of
the herbs and medicines for diabetes sufferers as prescribed by ayurvedic
doctors. Sugar level in blood is reduced while lowering insulin
resistance with the help of Gymnema. Sugar level is also reduced while
pancreases help in more and more secretion of insulin. Hence, the body is in
the position to make more insulin thereby improving the glucose level.
The number of beta cells are increased in the pancreas with the help of
a fruit named bitter melon. This is helpful in increasing the ability
of the body to make more insulin. Eye-sight and blood vessels are also
helped to improve through OPCs tannins and compounds which are found in
bilberry fruit. Weight can also be controlled with the help of birch
leaf tea.

Major drugs given in Diabetes include Insulin and Oral Hypoglycemics.
Nutritious diet which is to be given to Diabetics should be rich in
Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, Fatty Acids, Alpha Lipoic
acid, Chromium, Vanadium, Zinc etc. Vitamin A is an important element for
treatment of Diabetes. It prevents side-effects of Diabetes like eye
diseases, kidney problems etc. Vitamin D and Zinc help in Insulin
production. Vanadium helps move insulin into the cells and Chromium helps in
carbohydrate metabolism. Alpha Lipoic acid helps in converting glucose
into energy required for the body. All these minerals and Vitamins are
found in healthy diet like cod liver oil, nutritional yeast, animal
foods including raw butter, cream, cheese, raw meat and fish, beef and
lamb, seafood like shellfish, unrefined salt for trace minerals, bone
broths for minerals; unfiltered olive oil; molasses, egg yolks; and a
variety of fresh and fermented vegetables.

HemoglobinA1C test is the test which measures the sugar level in blood
and its results should vary in between 7 % or below. Near about to
50,000 diabetics undergo treatment at New York City public hospitals.
According to them, diabetes cannot be controlled alone with blood sugar
control. A regular track of blood pressure and cholesterol levels and eye
and foot exams are checked there at regular intervals using an
electronic patient registry. Protein HaemoglobinA1C levels should be reduced or
the blood sugar level must be reduced until the factors like age, other
chronic conditions, lifestyle and culture are not controlled for the
purpose of treating a patient.

by Matthew J. Loop, DC

Without question, I’m convinced we attract all things into our
existence good or bad. At this particular moment, that’s probably a tough pill
to get down, but I’m certain it’s the truth. Things are drawn to you by
the pictures that your mind fixates upon. The most recent thinking
habits pertaining to how you perceive yourself, money, abilities, and how
you live life are deep patterns. This is what most psychological
experts have referred to as programming.

This programming is tucked away within your subconscious mind and it
dictates your behavior on a daily basis. These programs, or paradigms,
came from outside sources and we often accept them without question.
Frequently, our paradigm is filled with lack and limitation because a
parent, instructor, coach, or another person we respected sought to protect
us from disappointment.

These individuals might have expressed words like “don’t expect too
much,” “life is hard,” and loads of other negative comments. When you
finally accept their flawed thinking, they begin to dictate your behavior
and hamper your ability to draw abundance and prosperity into every
area of your life. It really comes down to the fact that you always
attract what you’re feeling and what thoughts you saturate your mind with!

The wisest of individuals as far back as ancient Babylon were aware of
the secret law of attraction. It is vitally important to take
responsibility for our thoughts while policing them regularly! To start, I
recommend avoiding television, newspapers, and radio since they are
regularly filled with bad images, fear promoting exclusives, and upsetting
language that is fed to us daily. Buying into this does not propagate
independent, constructive thinking that is necessary to acquire great riches
and optimal health.

Like attracts like, specifically when we are referring to thought. You
become and attract what you think and feel most often, like a magnet.
Thoughts send out magnetic signals that are continuously drawing a
parallel back to you. The most amazing feature concerning
(http://atl.thesgrprogram.com) The Secret Law of Attraction is, at any
time, you can begin to think and create a feeling happiness and harmony.
The law of attraction, in turn, will respond by drawing more things
into your life that generate those positive emotions you’ve chosen to
feel!

Thoughts can unquestionably heal, but they can also cause sickness and
disease. Stress, which could be defined as negative thoughts, causes
the internal environment of the human body to become acidic, thus setting
the stage for illness and disease. These negative thoughts may
manifest as conscious or unconscious in origin. Several negative thoughts are
trapped in stressful or traumatic incidences from our past.

Always feel and envision yourself doing well in no-stress situations.
Consistently focus on prosperity and optimal health daily and it will be
drawn to you! Don’t allow yourself to focus or talk about sickness or
not having enough money. The idea of coincidence is a joke. We live in
an orderly universe and there is no coincidence. People that always
speak of their troubles create more of the same. Remember to think, speak,
and visualize from the end and be grateful that vibrant health and
financial abundance is already yours, even prior to it physically
appearing. The old proverb states, “ask in faith, knowing it is given unto
you!”

We live in a universe built upon law and order so I’m not one to
believe in coincidence or mere accidents. Coincidence is really attractor
forces working in harmony with you. As the old mindset you have shifts to
a more enlightened on, this will become clear to you. We accept or push
away abundance in all areas of our lives everyday. We co-create our
existence, as Dr. Wayne Dyer has often said. Effectively applying the
secret law of attraction is necessary when transforming your health from
inside-out and appreciating the science of getting rich! This alone is a
main factor that distinguishes individuals that spontaneously go into
remission and subsequently recover, from the people that succumb to
sickness. The law of attraction is always working and holds the key to
peak health and discovering (http://atl.thesgrprogram.com) The Secret
Science of Getting Rich.

Because there are so many different massage therapy products available
choosing the right ones for you can seem a little overwhelming,
especially if you are only just starting out. As there are so many different
brands, you will find that it may take you some time before you
actually find what it is you want. Below we offer a few guidelines that
should help you when it comes to finding exactly the right products for your
massage therapy business.

Massage Tables – If you are going to be working as an independent
massage therapist, then the first product you will need to get is your own
massage table. But to get the right one you will need to decide
whether you are going to be doing massages in a certain location such as in
your own home or in a office/retail space. Or are you someone who is
actually going to be providing a mobile massage service to their clients.

You may even be someone that actually offers both facilities to
clients. Then you need to get a massage table that is not only durable
(strong) but is comfortable. Plus if you are going to be mobile then you
need one that can be easily transported.

Linens – As well as a table you will also need to get table pads,
sheets, blankets and face cradle covers. Choose these products very
carefully because they will need to endure a lot of wear and tear. If you can
choose linens that feel very comfortable against a person’s skin.
Remember that for many of your clients they may find it difficult to
become relaxed because the linens you are using are either scratchy or
uncomfortable.

Although disposable face cradle covers seem like a money saving idea
they should not be used if at all possible. It is always better to just
have a bit more laundry to do than to make your clients have to fidget
around because the cover touching their faces feels uncomfortable. If
you cannot afford to get nice new covers in the beginning, then just
buy one or two each time you make other product purchases. Soon you will
have more than enough to cope with your clients demands.

Lotions, Oils and Creams – These are products which are essential to
your massage therapy business and will need to be replaced on a regular
basis. To save yourself money buy all the base products (unscented) in
bulk and then over time build up a selection of essential oils to use
with them.

The more essential oils you have this provides you with the chance of
giving your clients a more personalized service as they will be able to
select the oils that they prefer. Plus over time as you learn more
about your clients and what they like you can start to suggest some
alternative scents that they should try.

Are you someone who is keen to see their massage therapy business
thrive? Then you need to make sure that you only buy the best quality
massage therapy products that you can. If not your clients will feel
uncomfortable and find it difficult to relax and the chances of them
returning to you are greatly reduced.

If you are someone who would like to learn more about selecting the
correct kinds of massage therapy products and also the correct kinds of
techniques then visit (http://learningmassagetherapy.com) Learning
Massage Therapy. Just click on this link and you will some great massage
therapy tips and basics to help you get started.

Asking how does stress affect health is a top priority. Most of us may already be aware of the various studies that point to stress as a major factor in certain conditions. The question is whether there is any truth to the news that stress can be harmful to our health.

The truth is that researchers are still trying to determine the exact effects of stress. There are several studies that show a tentative but strong connection between stress and certain health problems. Some things are already certain though. Studies show for example that at the most, 90% of complaints in clinics are due to stress with 43% of people suffering badly from stress. The OSHA itself has said that stress is a major work hazard.

There are many possible health problems that could be due to stress. Here are only some of them:

- Heart disease isn’t just because of what you eat and drink. You could develop some form of heart disease if you are too stressed out. Heart disease develops gradually. Every time you experience stress, your heart rate and blood pressure increase. These can in turn strain your arteries which is where heart disease begins.

- How does stress affect health everyday? Stress actually impairs your immune system. Without this crucial system functioning well, you are likely to get sick with certain illnesses. Such common complaints as colds could affect you more often than usual. You could also become a constant victim of other common infections.

- Your weight can also become affected by stress. When under a lot of pressure, our bodies tend to consume our energy sources faster. These means you may feel the urge to refuel more and in greater amounts. This could lead to weight gain. On the other hand, stressed out individuals who do not have time to eat may loose a lot of weight and endanger their health further due to a lack of essential nutrients.

- You may have noticed that you may experience more stomach complaints when under stress. If you miss meals due to your preoccupation with stressful factors, then you could develop hyperacidity. Loose bowels are also a natural reaction to stress due to chemical reactions that cause the stomach to digest food improperly.

- Your body is not the only part that stress affects. Your mental and psychological states are also in danger. Stress naturally produces anxiety, worry and frustration. These could lead to the development of more serious psychological conditions such as depression.

- Naturally, stress can also cause insomnia. If you tend to worry over your concerns until way after the day is done, you could lose valuable sleep time. Sleep is a must have for everyone. If you can’t get enough of it, your body and its organs won’t get enough rest too. You end up performing poorly and feeling fatigued.

- Stress also translates to a variety of body problems that don’t seem to have any other clear cause. You could experience muscle aches, headaches, gum disease, hair loss and many more.

How does stress affect health? It is obvious that stress can affect you in more ways than one. Make sure you find a way to get stress out of your daily life.

Having acne is can be one of the most troublesome condition one can have. Whether you are a teenager or an adult, acne can affect you physically, emotionally and socially. Here, we will take a look at 3 factors that can help you prevent future acne breakouts.

1) Get rid of excess oil – Acne is often aggravated by overactive oil glands and dirt on the skin.

While keeping your skin oil free, it is also important to moisturize and keep it hydrated. It is best to use an oil free moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and balanced.

Another recommendation is to use an acne face wash to remove bacteria on the skin.

2) Keep hydrated with water – Most of us do not know that there is a link betwenn dehydration and acne.

Dehydrated skin has less ability to fight acne and regenerate healthy skin cells, this in turn will leave skin more exposed to the formation of acne. Increase your intake of water and reduce caffeine as much as you can.

3) Using the wrong products – Products that are oil based or contain certain chemicals can lead to breakouts.

Some people make the mistake of using heavy make up concealor to try to hide their pimples. This will eventually worsen the situation and cause a bigger breakout.

It is not so difficult to keep acne away if you follow these 3 steps. Just be more mindful in the products you use as well as your diet and water intake. If you keep an eye on these 3 factors, you will be able to have blemish free skin.

Is a rheumatoid arthritis symptom a cause for serious concern? The answer is a definite yes. Other forms of arthritis are equally worrisome. Like them, rheumatoid arthritis can be painful and debilitating and may even cause you depression. The disease affects the joint linings but other symptoms may affect the rest of the body. You should find out through your symptoms if you have this condition.

Your Symptoms

Since the joints are affected, they are of course the parts that will show symptoms too. People with the condition have joints that swell and stiffen. This can result in tenderness and pain that will vary from one person to another. Aside from your elbows, knees and fingers, other larger joints may also be affected. These include neck and shoulder joints. Symmetrical swelling of joints typically happens.

The disease has other symptoms beyond joint swelling. Some who have it may develop nodules or differently sized bumps in various areas of the body. Many individuals also experience symptoms similar to flu. They may suffer from fever, fatigue, weight loss and a lack of appetite.

A rheumatoid arthritis symptom may come out after a couple of months. Symptoms do not stay forever. They often appear, disappear and then reappear again. When symptoms are apparent, it is known as a flare up. Through time the symptoms may lead to more painful sensations and difficulty in movement. Unchecked and untreated rheumatoid arthritis can be seriously disabling.

Disease Causes

It’s hard to pinpoint what is responsible for the disease. It is possible though that genetic inheritance and lifestyle factors may play roles in it. Rheumatoid arthritis is considered an autoimmune disease. The white blood cells of the immune system mistakenly affect the lining of the joints. The interaction of the cells and tissues results in the discharge of protein which is what causes thickening of joint linings. Women and those above 40 seem to be more at risk of developing the disease than men and younger people.

Treating the Disease

No specific, scientifically proven treatment can cure rheumatoid arthritis. Certain medications though, such as NSAIDs and immunosupressants may be recommended. These medicines will reduce the pain and swelling in your joint. They also eventually holdup damage to the joints and neighboring tissues. These medicines however have side effects. If you have a very serious case, your doctor may have to perform surgery on your joint.

Medical treatment and procedures aren’t the only things you need to think about. Those who have the condition will also be given advice about diet and exercise. Certain healthy foods and special exercises may be recommended to help you ease the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Of course, all aspects of unhealthy living should be avoided such as smoking and extreme stress.

Your rheumatoid arthritis symptom may be truly bothersome. For some, the idea that symptoms can lead to disability may be scary. There is no reason to believe though that life has to stop because of the disease. You can still live a happy and normal life is you take your medication as indicated and keep to a clean lifestyle.

One of the popular fads today is using foot detox pads to improve
health. Do these small pads really cleanse your body and improve health like
the infomercials claim? Do you think they would help your health?
Today we are going to see why you should use foot detox pads and how they
can improve your life.

Foot detox pads are a great option to consider if you would like to
improve your health. Healthy eating and exercise are a good start to
getting your health back on track, but you will reach a plateau in your
efforts if you don’t use other processes along with these good habits. Some
of our internal problems cannot be fixed through diet and exercise,
you also need to pull out the substances that are plaguing you.
Detoxification is a great way to cleanse the toxins out so that you can assist
your body in the healing process that naturally occurs.

You may wonder how these harmful toxins got into your body. Toxins are
in our environment everywhere we go. The constant exposure to these
toxins cause our bodies to absorb them into our systems. The air we
breathe, water we drink and food we eat are all exposed to chemicals and
metals that collect as toxins in our body.

Fortunately, foot detox pads are an easy and natural way to remove
these harmful toxins from your body. The natural ingredients in the pads
cleanse out the toxins. You can even wear the pads while you sleep,
there’s nothing easier than improving your health while you sleep!

Although some people do not believe that foot detox pads can help them,
studies have shown that your health can improve and you may feel more
energy when you follow a detox program. Allowing the natural
ingredients in the pads to sit against the pores of your feet will stimulate the
reflexology points. Those points will react with the toxins in your
body and gently draw them out, using a concentrated form to sweat to
cleanse your body.

Improving your health is simple when you detox, you will find many
benefits from using foot detox pads on a regular basis. Make sure to
exercise and eat well and combine those healthy habits with detox– your
health will improve and you will have that energy and vitality you are
looking for!

“You look great today. You must be feeling a whole lot better?” “You
haven’t really experienced chronic fatigue until you’ve had twins and
worked full-time!” “I think it you sit around thinking about your pain too
much. Just get out of that house more and it may just heal itself.”
“If you really wanted to get well, you’d get serious about taking that
juice I recommended. I don’t understand why you won’t at least try it.”

And the remarks go on. . . and on.

And it really hurts.

You may be surprised to hear that nearly 1 in 2 Americans has a chronic
illness or physical condition that impacts their daily life. The range
of diseases and included everything from migraines to diabetes, back
pain to fibromyalgia, and arthritis to cancer. One of the largest
emotional obstacles for people who suffer from illness is coping with the
invisibility of the pain and feeling like no one understands what they
deal with on a daily basis. And they are justified in these feelings, as
about 96% of illness is invisible, meaning the person who suffers from
the chronic condition show no outward signs of physical pain or
disability. An assistive device is not needed like a walker or wheelchair. But
the incredible pain one experiences each day can be disabling within
the confines of the home.

If you have an invisible illness here are 5 ways to let go of some of the frustrations:

[1] Free people from the expectations you typically have had of them. This step will likely be a life-long process, but without taking it, you will consistently find that people will always disappoint you. No one is perfect-even you! And it’s important to remember that those with illness do not understand the difficulties that our friends are going
through, such as a divorce, the death of a loved one, an ill child, a loss
job, etc. Your illness is momentous in your life. And even though
people do care, they still will have significant things going on in their
own lives. Don’t hold that against them.

[2] Find supportive, caring friends. If there is someone in your circle
of friendships who is constantly belittling you or distrustful about
your illness, this should be a relationship to end. If it’s a relative,
distance yourself as much as you can. Illness gives us an opportunity
to help us prioritize our friendships. With limited energies we should
surround ourselves with those who at least can give us the benefit of
the doubt and acknowledge our illness exists.

[3] Find joy in your blessings. Rather than thinking about how badly
you feel, find ways to bring more joy into your life. Appreciate the
little things. Observe what you are doing when you have a burst of
unexplained energy and realize that there lies your passion. Focus on bringing
more of this into your life. You may not be able to garden like you
once did, but you can grow a few potted flowers or hire a neighborhood
teenager to plant some vegetables and set up an automatic sprinkler system
for them. Or if you want to dream big, start a consulting business for
want-to-be gardeners.

[4] Use your talents and skills for things you have a personal interest
in. Don’t allow yourself to feel like the skills you learned in a
workplace are no longer valuable. Maybe you’ve always wanted to write
children’s books or be a business consultant. Plug in and do some volunteer
or part-time work to continue to grow professionally and use your
skills for project you feel passionate about. Rather than focusing on what
others aren’t doing to comfort you, follow your dreams and give that
gift to yourself.

[5] Encourage someone else. You personally know how hard it is to live
with illness and to feel like no one understands. So take time to be
vulnerable with someone else who is going through this. Whether you meet
someone through an online group such as National Invisible Chronic
Illness Awareness Week’s message boards, or through your local support
group, volunteer your time and expertise (yes, you’re an expert on living
with invisible illness!) and use it to make someone else’s journey
easier and you’ll find your own is more enjoyable too. Are you frustrated
that no one at your church thinks your invisible illness is real? Rather
than stop going to church, find ways to educate them, such as a column
in the church newsletter or brochures about National Invisible Chronic
Illness Awareness Week. These say what to say/not to say to a
chronically ill person.

None of us have the capability to force another person to change, or to
make them care. But we can educate them and give gentle advice. We
must also continue to work on ourselves, however, because you will find
that even when you want to change it can be a real challenge. It requires
discipline and motivation for a better life. You owe it to yourself to
find joy despite your illness, and by focusing on how you can change
your circumstances, instead of change other people, you’ll be much more
rewarded.

by Amy Nutt

Before you get too involved with planning the date of your liposuction, make sure you have done your homework. Many people do not realize some of the greater risks of liposuction. Despite the fact that the industry has become better developed and most of the risks have been reduced, they have not been eliminated, and being aware of them ahead of time is a good way to educate yourself before you sign the papers.

If you are not good at dealing with pain there are a few things you need to consider. First of all, while the operation itself should not be excruciatingly painful, you will still experience discomfort and pain for days or weeks after the this kind of weight loss surgery.

Secondly, since the operation will take place close to some of your internal organs, you could experience internal bruising afterwards. You may also have a tendency to develop scars where the tube was inserted into your skin.

Some of the more extreme risks include things like irregularities in the contour of your skin, excess skin that requires you to get a lift, and even death. Though the chances of death are slim, and have been reduced to approximately 3 deaths per 100,000 recipients of liposuction, they do happen, and there is a risk of overdosing on the medication you
are given after the operation.

Irregularities occur when the areas where fat cells were removed do not settle evenly, resulting in uneven bumps under the skin. This can be remedied by having another procedure done, but that is even more costly than the first time. Excess skin is common when liposuction is done under the chin and it will appear as extra flaps of skin where there was fat before. These can be remedied by further cosmetic surgery such as a
face-lift, but once again you are adding to the original cost of the operation.

There is also a possibility of longer lasting effects, such as heart problems and problems with some of your other internal organs due to some of the ultrasonic and vacuum devices used during the operation. These are often harder to combat than the other risks, and they could lead to you needing medication for the rest of your life, or even more serious surgery. While this is certainly not the majority of cases, it is definitely something to consider if you know that you have a family history of heart troubles or other problems with your kidneys, liver, or other organs.

Your physician should discuss all of these risks with you before you make your final decision, but if not, it is better to be aware of them beforehand. If you have any questions about the liposuction surgery risks you should ask your physician for more information about them and how they relate specifically to you. By asking questions and educating yourself before you decide to go through with the operation you will be much more likely to have a successful recovery, or find a better way to reach your goals.

Unlike liposuction, lap band is a minimally invasive process that helps to achieve your weight loss goals.
